Letting your members vote, without losing control
A vote builds engagement. It can also lock you into choices you never actually wanted.
Giving members a vote is one of the most valued perks of the mid-tier plans. It's also one of the most poorly set up.
What makes a good vote
- The subject of the next piece of work, among options you've already chosen.
- A visible detail: color, name, format.
- The order in which already-approved topics get tackled.
What shouldn't go to a vote
Editorial direction, pricing, pace. Those are your calls to make; putting them to a vote builds an expectation of a permanent right you won't be able to take back.
