Raising your prices without losing your base
The rule is simple: new members pay the new price, existing members keep the old one. Everything else is a matter of wording.
Fear of losing members blocks most price increases. That fear is only justified when the increase applies to existing members too.
The method that costs almost nothing
- The new price applies only to new memberships.
- Existing members keep their rate, for life, and this is stated publicly.
- The announcement goes out two weeks ahead, with the reason explained.
A rate guaranteed for life has a valuable side effect: it turns tenure into a tangible benefit, and gives members a concrete reason not to cancel "just for a month."
